"Fall" For Marlboro- Day 281





It officially feels like Fall here in Florence! Celebrate the cooler temperatures with Marlboro County's fall festival, Fall for Marlboro. On Saturday, spend the day in Bennettsville and enjoy musical entertainment, crafts, corn-hole, a chili cook-off, an obstacle course competition, and much more, Everything will be happening on the courthouse square from noon to 5pm. Spend the afternoon enjoying everything fun about Fall!

FMU Alumni Invitational - Day 280

Stop by the Francis Marion University Hyman Fine Arts Center Gallery to check out the alumni exhibit. The Alumni Invitational gives graduates an opportunity to showcase and share their recent artwork. The University and community are invited to view the work and learn about the success of the alumni after graduation. The gallery is open Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5pm. The exhibit will be on display until November 8th.

Taste of Coker - Day 279

Join Coker College Athletics Department for the Taste of Coker on Monday evening from 6-8pm. Head on over to the soccer fields on Coker's campus to enjoy a variety of local flavor. Tickets are $15 for one, $30 for a couple and $40 for a family. Kids under 10 are free with the purchase of an adult ticket. You don't even need to think about what's for dinner tomorrow night!

Florence Symphony Orchestra's Opening Night - Day 278




Join the Florence Symphony Orchestra for their 2012-2013 season opening night! Monday evening's concert will feature Tannhauser Overture by Richard Wagner, Piano Concerto # 2 by Camille Saint-Saens, Grand Polanaise by Fredrick Chopin with Dmitri Lebkovich performing on piano, and the evening will end with Ottorino Respighi's symphonic poem Pines of Rome. Tickets range in price for Monday night's opening concert from $28-$38 and the show begins at 7:30. Season tickets start as low as $112! For more information on tickets, please call 843.661.2541.

Saturday's Fall Festival Roundup - Day 277





There are a lot of fun things going on in the area tomorrow! With the change of season brings fall festivals and this month is full of fun! Tomorrow alone will keep you busy all day. Just check out the lineup below:

I mentioned in a previous post, Lynches River County Park will have River Jamboree tomorrow. You can read more about all of the fun things happening at River Jamboree here.

You can also check out another great fall festival tomorrow from 11am-5pm at Saffold Community Center in Gresham. There will be all types of vendors, crafts, art work for purchase, and choir performances. Bring the kids along to get their face painted! There will also be games and arts and crafts for the kids, too. The Saffold Community Center is located at 6874 Highway 908 in Gresham. Click here for more details.

In Johnsonville, PraiseFest will be happening all day! The event begins at 10am and goes until the concerts are over. There will be arts, crafts, food, face painting, games, church choirs, and a concert featuring Britt Nicole, Group 1 Crew and Royal Taylor. These talented performers will be taking the stage at 5pm.  Admission is $10 or $15 the day of the event. PraiseFest will be held at Johnsonville High School. CarolinaFest will also be taking place tomorrow in Chesterfield! Located between the Bank Restaurant and the Visitors Center, you will find all kinds of fun activities for all ages! A pumpkin carving contest, pet parade, a Kids Pavilion, live bands, and a corn-hole tournament, just to name a few. Please click here for a complete schedule of events for CarolinaFest.

Gullah Language Lecture - Day 276



Monday evening at the National Bean Market Museum, join Sharon Cooper-Murray as she delivers a lecture on the Gullah language. The presentation will be in Gullah with English translations and will provide a nice introduction into the language. The lecture is sponsored by the SC Humanities Council and admission is free. The Museum is located at 111 Henry Street in Lake City and the lecture begins at 6pm. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn about such a unique language!

Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser with Sister Hazel - Day 275


 



Join Habitat for Humanity for their 4th annual "Raise the Roof" fundraiser tomorrow evening. Sister Hazel will perform at the FMU Performing Arts Center's outside amphitheater. The event will begin at 6:30 and tickets, which include an open bar, are $50. You can get your ticket for this great cause from the Performing Arts Center box office or by ordering online here. Enjoy a fun evening celebrating the 21st anniversary of the Greater Florence Habitat for Humanity.
