From the Bee Keeper's Daughter to the funeral band to the drive-in movie operator, Mary Whyte has a way of bringing ordinary working people to life. Looking at her paintings, you can almost sense what the subjects would say about how their day went, what they like (and don't like so much) about the work they do, and how they learned their skills. Mary Whyte met Mr. Okra in Louisiana, but I feel like I've met him before...
